  1. No problem with AMC denying the right of self protection on privately owned property they open to the public, as long as they are held responsible both legally and civilly for any death or injury incurred by anyone dissarmed and unable to defend themselves while on said property.

AMC is owned by Chinese Communists, that should be all it takes for them to go out of business in America.

    • I’m a Liberal Gun Owners and I really don’t understand what the point of trying to get private property owners to allow folks to carry firearms onto their property. Look movie theatres will never allow it. If you don’t want to risk to stay home. Mall are the same way. They will never change their policy. Ship online….they honestly don’t care about your boycott. I’m not saying their choice is logical but that it is their choice to make. You can not punish them. We don’t have the numbers to leverage any response that will get their attention.

I don’t care about any ‘no guns’ signs. They do not carry the force of law. I carry concealed. Emphasis on ‘concealed’. If asked to leave, I will leave without argument but I will not be back. If a few people in the theater in Colorado would have ignored the signs a lot of people might be alive today and we wouldn’t be spending a lot of $$$ trying the nutjob who did all the shooting.

There is something seriously wrong with a country that allows foreign owners of an American company to deny American citizens of our civil rights. Inalienable rights are not granted to us by the Constitution or Bill of Rights. Inalienable rights are those rights that have been given to us by God or nature if you prefer. The Bill of Right simply enumerates those rights.

    Reply

    • You have an odd idea of rights. You want you yourself to have them, but not the foreign owners (and really, it doesn’t matter if they are foreign. As you said, they are inalienable rights we have as humans, not rights given to us by the American government). I’m a big proponent of gun rights, but I’m a bigger proponent of property rights. If I don’t want you on my property, you don’t have the right to be there. If I don’t want you bringing a gun on my property, your right to have your gun doesn’t trump my right to keep you off my property–by force of my gun, if necessary.

You don’t like AMC’s policy, do what I do: Vote with your feet–take yourself and your money elsewhere. Complain to AMC. Complain to anyone who will listen. But don’t think for a second they don’t–or shouldn’t–have the right to do what they’re doing. We all have the right to be wrong, on our own property.

      • Well said Stephen. I believe that we ALL have the right to descriminate on our own private property. Even our own private business. No, I’m not Racist, But I am Christian. I believe my actions whether deliberate or not are between my God and I, so long as I haven’t broken any government’s laws. If a person or business didn’t want my business, or merely had stipulations regarding my patronage, it should be my choice to either stay and patron or trade elsewhere (which is whats going on here).

“If it hurts, stop doing it”
“Like it or Leave it ”

        Pure and simple.

  7. Bravo amc theater for being liberal and stupid enough to think a sign is going to save lives even though your insanity cost so many lives because no good guys with guns were there to stop the blood thirsty murderer committing mass murder of hundred people. Congratulations anti-gun liberal idiots. You have reach a new level of pure insanity and sat the new standard of liberal propaganda and brainwashed stupidity.

  8. I knew there was a reason I liked living in Indiana! Indiana has no signage to prevent concealed carry, IF someone becomes aware of you carrying and ASKS you to leave you must leave or be charged with trespassing. So I’ll continue to carry everywhere it’s legal to carry and I’ll carry CONCEALED. When I travel to Ohio where my kids live I do not patronize any business that prohibits concealed carry. Maybe they won’t miss my few dollars but I figure it’s my money! I’d rather spend it in a business that allows me to protect myself.

  9. Every theater has a fire extinguisher. It takes about 15 minutes for the fire department to arrive. It is just a tool. I know how to aim it and hope I never have to use it. I carry a gun because it will take the police department about 15 minutes to arrive at the theater if there is a crazy shooter at the location. It is just a tool. I know how to aim it and hope I never have to use it. I wouldn’t go to a theater that does not have a fire extinguisher and I won’t go to a theater with out my gun.

  10. AMC just bought the theater in Waco Texas, I was so shocked to find the legal 30.06 sign. How idiotic they are to allow their patrons that are law-abiding citizens to be on armed. Welcome to being a psycho’s target

  11. You liberals think that just because AMC put up a “Gun Free Zone” – that the crazy person is going to stop and go look for a place that “Allows Guns.” All AMC did is just welcome another opportunity. Enjoy your movie knowing there is a greater potential that a target may be painted on one of your seats. I won’t be there.

  12. Yeah makes sense for all you determined to be victims. Had someone been armed they may have saved lives at the Aurora theater. I don’t recognize gun free zones.

    • Bob, that is the most idiotic and emotionally driven, non-reality based load of horse hockey I’ve heard. The concept that a Sign….a Sign…is going to keep a determined criminal (look up definition of criminal if you need) from committing heinous acts with guns is flawed from the start. The only people effected by the signs are LAW ABIDING PEOPLE who take their safety and that of their families seriously.
To say that you want to be an unprotected victim is your choice. To remove my choice and FORCE me to be an unprotected victim is abhorrent. The Aurora Colorado shooter went out of his way to find a theater, further from his home mind you, that was a Gun Free Zone. This allowed him to kill at random in the comfort of knowing that NOBODY would oppose him.
You Sir, are a fool in the classical sense of the word. What does a theater have in place to protect the viewing audience?…..a highschool kid with a flashlight and a trash bag?….a sign? What the heck is that going to do to deter another Aurora type shooter? NOTHING!!! If it happens while you are there, you will find yourself a victim….curled up on the floor and hoping…..hoping that you don’t get hurt….maybe you have to watch your child get injured for the concept of personally protecting that which you value to make sense?
I’m at a loss. How does anyone become that mentally deranged? Does it take training or did it come on at birth?

      Reply

    • Oh so you don’t want to be in a reality show? Well I hope you like being in a coffin. Gun free zones do nothing but keep lawful citizens from protecting them self’s or someone else. Did the gun free zone stop the collordo movie theater shooting ? Did it work for the countless schools that are victims ? You want to know why they don’t work ? They never enforce them no metal detectors no people checking bags and even then the theater in Colorado he still got in . So you tell me you feel safer where someone that is Legally carrying and trained is not there yet a crimal of crazy can come in I speechless .

Bob that’s a load of highly uneducated pile of b.s. that came out of your mouth. Only good guys with guns stop the bad guys with guns. Not a NO FIRE ARMS sign. Bad guys or crazy blood thirsty murderers see that sign as an opportunity and think hey I can go in here and take as many lives as I can while it takes 15 to 20 minutes for the cops to show up and be out between that time frame.

  14. Bravo AMC for caring for public safety and exercising common sense and social responsibility. I can’t imagine why anyone would need a gun at thd movies unles they are liking for trouble.

    Reply

    • The reason is, that those of us that take our family’s safety seriously carry all day / every day. Just like some people wear a watch, I carry a gun. Secondly, movies are typically played at night. When it is dark. You are leaving the building in a dark, unfamiliar area. That is precisely the time to be on heightened alert. Lastly, the events of the last year have taught us that any gathering of people can be a target for terror. I refuse to be a victim. I am trained, and I will fight back.

    • Chris gentry

You must have been trained to be that stupid or was like that at birth because reality a NO FIRE ARMS is not going to protect you or anyone. Why shall you ask? What the definition of a criminal? A criminal is somebody that ignores the law and gun free zones and breaks the laws even committing mass murder of good guys that don’t have guns. You can say oh just keep that sign up there on the Windows until they stop shooting. But what’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results but only getting the same every time. So that NO FIRE ARMS sign ain’t going to save lives. Hate to bust your bubble but that’s reality for you. That’s why I want to carry a fire arm because I’m a good with a gun.

  15. That’s the point of “concealed” carry, no one knows you have the gun until some idiot starts shooting patrons. Given the number of attacks in movie theaters, don’t you think you should remove your “no gun” policy? It just might save YOUR life!
To tell the truth, I’m never without my firearm, even in your theaters. It hasn’t jumped out shooting anyone yet! But if some fool does start shooting, I will accept thanks for saving your stupid butt!

  16. “See Something, Say Something” with your CASH – don’t patronize AMC Theaters or any other theater group promulgating messages of this sort.
In most areas there are multiple choices of movie theaters, often showing the same movies.
If there is a particular movie that is only available at an AMC theater then you need to make the producers and distributors know that they are ~loosing money~ through their distribution deal.
Those first run dollars are often a significant factor in future distribution deals for cable release so a loss of money ~now~ translates into lost income down the road as well.
Movie theaters are becoming a favorite killing ground because you’ve got a large number of people in a confined space who are in the dark ~and~ if they are “law abiding citizens” are without the means to respond in kind due to the ill considered [ and failed] policies of the chains management.

  18. If you weapon is concealed no one should know you have it. So if something was to happen and you had to use it then your a hero. Gun free zones don’t change your rights. It’s merely a suggestion. Can a cop carry a weapon in gun free zone? Then so should law abiding citizens.

    Reply

    • It’s not a suggestion if it is private property, which a movie theater is. Private property and its inherent rights are a linchpin of capitalist society.

      Reply

      • It’s still a suggestion if it’s private property. All they’ll do is call the cops, you’ll be asked to leave and to come back unarmed. That’s it.

        Reply

        • Actually, no. That’s bad advice, and, depending on the state’s laws, really bad advice. In Texas, not obeying the sign is a Class C misdemeanor. Refusing to leave when asked by the owner/operator is a Class A misdemeanor, which means you can say bye-bye to your CHL for 5 years.

Basically, don’t be a jerk. You’ll get yourself in trouble and give the rest of us lawful carriers a bad name.

          • Criminals do not worry about signs and probably do not understand all of the big words in it. Better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6

          • Greg… Or, you could respect the legal property rights of the owner and take your business elsewhere. You know what they call people who don’t respect property rights? Criminals.

          • It’s only a legal requirement IF they Properly Post the 30.06 &/or 30.07 signage (in Texas), or physically have someone inform you that Weapons are not permitted. We regularly go to the AMC at Grapevine Mills Mall in Grapevine Texas, and though we did recently notice the signage it is at Foot level way off to the right side of the entrance, and not obvious, and is difficult to read on the glass it is posted on.

We have been debating the legality of the signage, and believe that it doesn’t meet the requirements of the law, but you can’t always know that a jury would find the same way… but the question is whether you would rather be judged by 12 of your peers or carried by 6 to your grave.

If the signage were posted properly, we absolutely wouldn’t carry, but we would also see much fewer movies, and have actually chosen to see fewer movies over the past year because of the stupidity of denying law abiding citizens the right to protect themselves and others if the need should arise.

Anyway… Constitutional Carry is now trying to be brought before the next session of the Texas Congress, which could further eliminate some of the restrictions being placed on law abiding citizens.
