Boycott Jo-Ann Stores

Jo-Ann Stores is a specialty retailer of crafts and fabrics with over 750 locations.  They stand by their decision to ban firearms in their stores.  They explain that this is for the “comfort” of their customers.  Bad guys will also feel “comfortable” there, knowing the store will be filled with defenseless sheep.

Here is the statement we received from them:

Thank you for contacting us about the prohibition against concealed weapons and the sign posted at our Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store. After thoughtful consideration, Jo-Ann decided to post the signs to create a comfortable shopping environment and experience for our customers. Jo-Ann recognizes that there are strong feelings on this issue, and that permit-holders are exercising their state right. Jo-Ann also is exercising its right under state law to post the sign. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Here is one account we found online:

There are other places to buy what they sell.  Michael’s does not discriminate against the rights of gun owners, and we suggest you shop there instead.  Oh, and don’t forget to let Jo-Ann’s know why you’ll be taking your business elsewhere; you’re not “comfortable” being disarmed.

  1. Live in Iowa and have carried CCW in Jo Ann’s for years without issue. If it don’t show they don’t know.

Yes, they have that right. And just as they ignore my right to carry, I will ignore their signage.

I shop at JoAnn all the time, I open carry my weapon, they have never said to me. Nor has any customer. I have been in a few of these stores actually with no issues. People need to relax about guns, they are for their protection as well as mine. People just freak out to much over this stuff. Notice most stacks are in ‘gun free’ zones……

Thank you so much for checking out Jo Ann stores. In fact, thanks for the entire list of stores I will now be sure to support. I mean really, do you need a gun in a fabric store? Afraid the fleece might attack you?

    Reply

    • No ma’am I an not afraid of being attacked by the fleece, but you just never know when someone intending to do harm to another is going to pop up.

      Reply

    • Not afraid of the fleece, it is people like you trying to take our rights away. It is our right to carry, just as it is your right to shop at JoAnn Fabrics. You might give that some thought. Would like to see your statements if you were told can could not shop at JoAnn’s again ???????

    • Not the fleece ass hole but the gun Carring maniac that comes into the store to rob it

  7. I have sent messages to several companies on this list that I do business with thanking them for their position and promising to continue, and if possible, increase my purchases.

    Reply

    • That is your right. Just as it is mine to make it clear that I do not support their position. I hope you never have an occasion to regret your stance on this issue. Should you be in the wrong place at the wrong time, you might find yourself very grateful that a good person with a firearm was there.

  10. This is a tough choice. We own a small alteration shop that supports CCW and Jo-Ann has what we need and Michael’s does not. I have to see if our local store has a sign up or not. My wife does a lot of shopping there. I wear my CCW everywhere anyways.
