Simon Malls – They ban guns in every location.
We have received many complaints from fans about Simon Malls in the last few months. We have attempted to contact them for a statement of their policy, but they have been unresponsive. However, we have found such a statement provided to a news channel (hat tip to KETK) in Texas. The story can be read HERE. Below is an excerpt with the Simon Malls policy statement:
“Possession of any weapon at Simon malls, whether concealed or displayed openly, is in violation of mall policy. This policy is intended first and foremost to maintain a safe, secure and comfortable environment at our malls, which has always been our top priority, and to avoid any situation that could potentially place at risk the safety of our shoppers and employees.
Simon malls are private property, and like virtually every other facility in the community that is accessible by the public, ownership/management has the right to prohibit the possession of weapons, both displayed or concealed, other than licensed weapons carried by law enforcement personnel.
Julie Rigby – Longview Mall Manager”
Below is a picture of their Code of Conduct, which clearly prohibits firearms. (#6)

The Orland Square mall has become one giant flea market. All the other malls closed, so all the scumbags come here now. Plus all the shitty discount stores inside have attracted a whole different crowd, and alienated all the white collar shoppers. The crime Is way up & the gang bangers have now started to open fire inside this mall. A code of conduct sign will not fix the scourge of society. No worries, this mall will soon be in ruins like all the others. Some people can’t live in a normal society.
Let me tell you something. I don’t care who owns what mall, or their “code of conduct”. If my family is there and I am with them, it’s not a gun free zone. My family WILL NOT be a statistic. I carry at work, home, vacation…. if I have on pants, I have a firearm. I have been on several Simons properties in Florida with a concealed firearm (hence the CONCEALED part). If they are not a government building, I am carrying.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services listed places where you are restricted from carrying a weapon or firearm even if you have a license:
Any place of nuisance as defined in Section 823.05, F.S.
Any police, sheriff or highway patrol station
Any detention facility, prison or jail
Any courthouse
Any courtroom
Any polling place
Any meeting of the governing body of a county, public school district, municipality or special district
Any meeting of the Legislature or a legislative committee
Any school, college or professional athletic event not related to firearms
Any school administration building
Any portion of an establishment licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption
Any elementary or secondary school facility
Any area technical center
Any college or university facility
Inside the passenger terminal and sterile area of any airport
Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law
This is what I love about Florida. All they can legally do is ask me to leave. I am no breaking a law because what they fail to realize is that no matter how much money they have, their “code of conduct” is not a LAW.
Keep Calm and Carry!
Can the mall owners be held legally culpable in the killings for creating a killing zone???

No weapons allowed? Guess I have to leave my hands and feet outside before going in…
They need to change their signs. They have to have a 30.06 sign if they expect a Texan not to carry in their malls. Mall policy lol what a joke. All they can tell you is leave. I would rather take my business somewhere else then.
When I took my concealed carry class, the instructor stated they have to have 30.06 signs posted at every door. Signs that state not weapons allowed or a picture with a gun and an x over it does not matter. He said only look for 30.06- no guns allowed, 30.07-concealed carry only and 51%- no guns allowed.
Concealed means concealed.
And they can only ask you to leave in CA
You have no legal 30.06 or 30.07 signs posted. That is what is required to be a ” no guns” store.
I used to live in California and used to go to a Simon mall called Santa Rosa Plaza. A few years ago I called mall security and asked if there’s a dress code. The security officer told me that you can’t wear short shorts and yet the mall sells them in stores such as American eagle outfitters and forever 21 and stores that sell women’s Nike tempo shorts if those stores sell them. Rule number 1 says that appropriate clothing is required. I don’t know if what that security officer told me or what that officer actually meant.

I was just approached at the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor, Michigan – while at the Apple Store. I was “open carrying” (I have a Michigan CPL), but my gun was barely visible in my waistline. The security employee interrupted my business with the Apple employee and advised me I wasn’t allowed to carry it, unless I was a police officer. I responded that it wasn’t against the law, I would finish my business and be on my way. He accepted it and moved on with his day. If I’m carrying concealed they shouldn’t know, so their policy makes no sense. How would you know if it was concealed if it was really concealed? So what you’re telling customers is “we don’t want to know you have one”. It’s not against the law, it’s against a policy…I bet if something went down there and I used it appropriately and responsibly, they wouldn’t be complaining.
I won’t be going back, stupid policy. Boycott Simon Malls!
Their no weapons policy says they don’t allow weapons (firearms) as safety is a top priority.. so let me get this straight.. shooter walks in the mall (ignores the no weapons sign ofcourse) and starts mowing folks down like a herd of defenseless sheep is for our safety?… if law abiding citizens were allowed to conceal carry firearms to protect themselves and others, an active shooter situation will most likely be stopped.
Their policy does the exact opposite of what they are trying to do..
They can have whatever policy they want but if they don’t put up 30.06 signs on all the entrances then you can carry.
I agree with the public on banning Simon Malls. I think it is absurd to think that criminals actually care if you make it illegal to cary a firearm in the mall. (That’s why they’re criminals; ’cause they don’t care!) Believing that guns kill people is also believing that hammers build malls or forks make people fat! Wise up Simon you jus took away my ability to defend my family and myself (possibly others) in case there was a situation where I had to do so. People like you (Simon) are who weaken our country…thanx!
I used to spend thousands of dollars at there locations and now don’t feel safe to go shopping there. They are one of the reasons we are losing our rights in the US. Remember, it’s not the law abiding citizens, it’s the individuals that don’t have the legal right to carry. Individuals who carry legally are abiding by the laws and become a second police as we are trained to be aware of our surroundings. Criminals now know that no one can defend themselves in these locations. Please forward this to all concerns.
So Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua NH has a Dick’s Sporting Goods that sells firearms and ammunition. How’s that supposed to work? But then again, Dick’s stopped selling “Modern semi-auto rifles” and doesn’t sell any handguns so they are not interested in our 2A rights either.
If i had to be in one of there malls where i have a legal right to be and i were unarmed, if anything ever happened I would sue them for denying me MY RIGHT to pprotect myself.

Two Simon malls here, neither one posts any weapon signage.
What mall are you talking about in your city?
It’s the same here. 4 main doors have signs improperly placed and none of the attached stores have signs not the entry from those stores to the mall itself. The conduct page is only posted in the employee halls that customers have no reason being in. That’s Wichita for you. They have yet to say anything to me even when my shirt lifts and they catch a glimpse of the holster. They really don’t care but I’m sure open carry makes them uneasy. Uneducated masses run the world.
Sent a message to to Simon Malls regarding their Code of Conduct. See below:
Trying to understand your Code of Conduct you have posted at your malls. Item #6: “No weapons, including but not limited to firearms, knives, or any other object(s) that may be used in any way to inflict bodily injury on another person.”
The fact that you have the portion that says “any other object” has me concerned. You can inflict bodily injury with many different common day items. Heck you have stores in your malls that sell them. You can hurt someone with something as simple as knitting needles. You could hurt someone with hedge clippers. So if I buy one of these simple items while in your malls how do I get them to my car without violating your policy. You even have stores in your malls that sell knives which is even on your list.
The fact that you are making money off of stores that sell items that violate your policies would make your policies null and void.
I shop at Sears in a Simon mall and just enter Sears directly from the parking lot instead of going through the mall. Never had a problem. Sears is the only place in the local mall I shop.
I realize that it just comes down to where Simon chose to build the most malls, but does anyone else think it’s kinda funny that in this particular post, the longest list is in Texas?
Texas: 37 Florida: 46. what?
You think this is bad, try the stupidest thing of all (see #8) no photography or video taping policy. Photography and Videography is not a crime, except to Simon (apparently)!
I live in Midland Texas. I will no longer do business at any store in the Mall. If they take away my rights, I will take away their business
The midland, TX location just went public with their criminalization of concealed carry holders.

I was not aware that this company prohibited the “legal” carry of weapons by law abiding citizens. Now that I know that they sponsor and encourage criminal activity, I will now be spending my money elsewhere. Their loss, someone elses gain.
