2ACheck Rating: “B” – Dunkin Brands is mostly gun-friendly.
Dunkin Brands includes Dunkin Donuts and Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream.
What we have learned from speaking with Dunkin representatives is that nearly 100% of all Dunkin Donuts and Baskin-Robbins locations are franchise-owned. Those franchise owners are required to obey the laws related to firearms in the locality in which they operate. However, the law in many places allows a business owner to prohibit firearms. The bottom line is the firearms policy at any given location is determined by the franchise owner.
We have open carried at our local Dunkin Donuts a few times without incident, even in a snobby liberal Virginia suburb of Washington DC on a busy weekend morning.
If you discover guns are prohibited at a particular location, you may try another one and find you and your gun (and your money) are welcome. You may also want to speak to the franchise owner who prohibits gun and politely ask him/her to consider changing their policy, and rationally cite the many reasons why gun free zones are not desirable. If he will not reconsider, then avoid all of his businesses. Many franchisees own multiple locations, avoid them all. If you find a large franchise operation with dozens of locations that bans guns, let us know. Info@2ACheck.com
